Inspiration... Summertime Staples

Hello world! As Lauren so graciously stated in the previous post, we have both been extremely busy and have been unable to post at the pace we had been going at nearly a year ago. With that being said, summer is approaching which means more posts (fingers crossed) and new outfits to coordinate with the looming heat. Here's what's currently on my must list for the summer season...

Pastels and stripes
Light and billowy high-low skirt
Bohemian + hard edge
Twisted tops
Layered friendship, studded and jeweled bracelets
Flatform wedges

Thin Mint

We're still here! Things here have been CRAZY. Michelle just graduated from college and is focused on finding a job, and I'm still plugging away with my artwork. Anyhow I'm going to try and get us back on track, and I think the best way to do that is start out with a yummy cookie recipe. Thats right homemade thin mints! I made these a while back and they were outstanding. My family took one bite into them and their whole face lit up. They are also insanely easy to make.

You can find the recipe HERE

Tricks and Treats

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. Of course, any excuse to pig out on candy is ideal. Personally can't get enough of candy corn, especially those pumpkin shaped ones, YUM! My roommate and I have been chomping at the bit to start decorating our home with as much Halloween goodness as we could muster (we ended up decorating a week before October!). Pictures soon to come on how we decorated the place. But for now here are some photos I've collected that really inspire me for this spooky holiday.

Maxed Out

(Target hat, vintage talon necklace, F21 crop top, vintage belt, thrifted maxi skirt, Steve Madden Wedges)

Sorry It's been so long since our last post. It's been a bit hectic now that school has started for both of us.

With a demanding major like mine, I find it hard to have the energy, or the time to put together outfits that are more than just jeans and a sweater. I've found that maxi skirts are a great go to piece for me this semester. Comfortable, yet girlie, making any outfit look stylish and unique. Wear it with a oversized sweater, loose fitted tank, or crop top. I also love that it works in almost any weather situation. As a plus, they're even easier to throw on then a pair of jeans.

The Apple Torte of My Eye

I rarely bake the same thing twice, especially when it comes to certain main staple ingredients. This is particularly true with the time-old favorite apple, as I've made countless different desserts, muffins, etcetera. When I stumbled across a recipe called a Bavarian Apple Torte, I was both intrigued and salivating. I'm not sure what makes this cake Bavarian, whether it's the sugar cookie-eqsue crust, cheesecake layer or the sliced cinnamon-sugar drenched apples. But quite frankly, I don't care; it's absolutely delicious, and that's all that really matters in the end.

Spots and Stripes

(Vintage sunglasses, F21 onesie, vintage belt, Urban Outfitters skirt, Target tights, F21 shoes, AE necklace)

I'm definitely a fan of mixing patterns. You can match any two patterns together, just as long each has one of the same color. I'm so ready for fall; over that summer I picked up crazy patterned sweaters at different flea markets and thrift stores. I'm anxiously awaiting for the changing leaves, warm drinks, and especially Halloween. My roommate and I have been restraining ourselves from decorating the place.

Inspiration... Jeffrey Campbell Lita's

I recently obtained a pair of the coveted Jeffrey Campbell Lita heels and am quite smitten with them. Deceivingly comfortable and lightweight, these are the perfect compliment to an outfit to give it a little extra fun and quirkiness. Sadly I've only worn them once for a wedding, but am constantly trying to find new ways to wear them. All of these photos (credited to fashionsquad.com) show that they are extremely versatile and can seemingly go with almost any type of outfit.
